As many Twitter users I do check Retweetist regularly to check out what’s hot; this morning I sadly discovered TweeterGetter (by @garymccaffrey) at the top of the list, just another multi-level pyramidal scam, asking full access to your account in exchange for thousand of unknown @followers.
The site consist of a single page full of the usual multi-level jargon, ending in a form where you are supposed to enter your Twitter username and password (you really trust them right?!) and submit, this will send a canned message through the Twitter API and automatically force you to follow 5 or 6 people that already entered the multi-level scheme; your followers are then supposed to click the link and also expose their full credentials to TwitterGetter.
Aside from the general, theoretical unsustainability of such schemes, I believe this can really trash the Twitter platform in no time! first the whole value of your Twitter account is in the fine-tuning of your following/follower population, moreover adding people at random results into an immense amount of noise flowing around the Web for no reason.
I really hope Twitter headquarters will react promptly; please contact them about this, and do retweet a warning instead of TweeterGetter message, let’s get viral too!
The Toscana Capoeira Workshop 2008 is approaching, and there are still a few spots available!
It is going to be a dance intensive workshop exploring the secrets of Capoeira, Maculelè and of the beaches of southern Tuscany (Italy) . Please proceed to the event website for all details; I never figured out why the rss feed there does not get indexed by blogsearch engines, forcing me to post in here about dance events!
Toscana Capoeira Workshop: summer 2008 Dance intensive stage, Italy
Great ’state of the CMS world’ discussion going on over there in 456Bereastreet.com land.Very interesting for a MODx addict running a Wordpress blog like me. Too bad the Alexa widget included below is not showing up, try it by yourself directly on Alexa!
This post started with the need to prepare a list of italian artist worth checking out for a friend, I went to iTunes and discovered they have a widget to include all your reviewed/purchased artist on your pages -so here it is, maybe it can be interesting for someone else aside from ‘Hendrik’!
Why o why we cannot kill windows while shrinking them with Exposè ??!
The all-in-one view is just the perfect, most natural UI for performing clean-ups (it just feels like a shoot-them-all video-game to me), but Leopard still does not implement this, and adds a new source of potential mess instead (Spaces).
Exposè, the Dock (plus stacks), Spaces and Spotlight are all about ‘reaching things’, but they just don’t fit with each other, it seems to me that Mac OS is evolving into a set of diverging tools, the user first have to figure out which one is the best for the current task, then to remember tool-specific shortcuts and tricks …stressful!
QuickSilver and Witch (both freeware) implement fundamental UI design principles much better, and can be way more effective on this particular task.
